Rihomaru will end next week

"Sayashi Riho to marumaru to" aka Rihomaru, the radio show of Riho Sayashi will end on Sunday, September 26.  The show had started in December 2020.  At the end of today's show, Riho said the following:

"I would like to make an announcement.  "Sayashi Riho to marumaru to", which I have been presenting since December, will have its final episode next week on September 26th.  I know this is sudden, but because it will be the last episode, we have been collecting a lot of  emails from listeners.  I would like to talk about my memories of this program, so please listen to it.

Thank you.  I am sad that it's ending, but I will be here next week, and I hope that you join me for the end of the program!  This was Riho Sayashi.  Goodbye everyone, and see you next week!"

The producer of Rihomaru, Kei Takamoto tweeted about the end of the show saying the following:

"When considering what kind of program we wanted to do with Riho Sayashi for her new beginning, in the era of Instalive and fan club radio, we thought of creating a place to talk about connections and shared experiences.  I am really grateful that we were able to do the show for this long, and I want to thank the many guests, and their agencies for their collaboration.  Above all, I would like to thank all the listeners who have supported the program.  I would really appreciate it if you listened to the last episode as well.

But this program of course wouldn't be possible without Riho who is the most honest, hard-working, and kind person I have ever met.  Next week is the last episode of this show, but the entire staff would surely like to work with her again one day.  The words of Matsuoka-san when she appeared on the show have touched me deeply.  I truly hope that Sayashi-san (as Matsuoka said) leaves this nest to fly to something even better."

Finally, in a story published in the Fall 2021 issue of CREA magazine, "celebrities that love radio" were asked to name their favorite radio shows, and one of the 20 programs chosen was Rihomaru!  This is how Rihomaru was described in the magazine:

"Former member of Morning Musume, Riho Sayashi, presents the real face of her famous guests.  She has had lively conversations with personalities such as Kyoko Koizumi, Nocchi (Perfume), TAKAHIRO, Yudai Chiba, Ikura (YOASOBI), Nobuyuki Sakuma and many others."

Riho's first ep "DAYBREAK"

Riho will be releasing her first ep DAYBREAK on August 4.  The cd will be released by her own label Savo-r, and the first song, "Find me out" is already available.

Riho's comments on why she chose the name Savo-r for her label:

It comes from the English word savor, which can mean many different things.  It can refer to taste, to something that is interesting, and to enjoying an experience.  It resonated with my desire to produce what I have in my heart in a meaningful way through my performance.  I also wanted to put something of myself in the label name, by using my own name, (Sa)yashi (R)iho.

Riho's comments on what DAYBREAK means:

It means dawn, and it signifies a fresh start.  That was the idea behind it.  When you see the sun rise in the morning, you imagine what the day will be like.  By focusing on that moment, I hope the songs will make everyone's dawn more positive, regardless of whether it's a literal dawn, the beginning of a new day, or a metaphorical one, the beginning of a new challenge.

Riho tv drama roles and other appearances

Riho Sayashi will be a guest star in the 7th episode of the popular TV Tokyo drama "Chefu wa, mei tantei" (The chef is a detective).

Airing every Monday at 11:06 pm, the drama is based on a popular novel series, which has sold more than 360,000 copies.  Chef Shinobu Mifune uses his brilliance to solve mysteries and unexplained events that take place in his restaurant Bistro Pa-Maru.

Episode 7 is a story of friendship, starring Kanako Miyashita as Shimako Yamashita, a young woman that brings fine wine to the store.  Riho Sayashi plays the role of her childhood friend, Haruka.

Episode 7 Synopsis
Yamashita comes to the store to discuss about the expensive wines she brought in.  Her friends, who gather the next day, seem to be fed up with her snobbish behavior, especially Haruka (played by Riho Sayashi).

Riho's comments: I think everyone will be able to relate to Haruka's clumsiness and the misunderstandings that arise between her and her best friend.  Please look forward to the broadcast to find out how Chef Mifune will try to fix the relationship between these two friends.  I was also impressed by the warm atmosphere in Bistro Pa Maru.  The authentic French cuisine we had during certain scenes as well as breaks in the shooting was excellent.  Please pay attention to the dishes too.

Comments by Riho's co-star, Kanako Miyashita: Surrounded by the very reliable regular cast of the drama series, I had a great time co-starring with Riho Sayashi, who played my friend Haruka.  Please look forward to how the distance between the two best friends closes with the help of Chef Mifune's arguments, and ... wonderful food.  It would make me happy if people who watched this episode thought of their loved ones.

The episode will air on July 19 at 11:06 pm on TV Tokyo.

Riho will also be starring in the drama "准教授・高槻彰良の推察" (a loose translation of which would be "Professor Takatsuki solving mysteries").  The drama, which will start on August 7, on Fuji TV, and is based on a popular book series, involving a university professor and a graduate student, who has the ability to recognize when someone is lying, solving mysterious cases.  It is unknown yet what Riho's role will be.

On July 16 at 7:30 pm on NHK Plus, Riho will be presenting an episode of "Round Chugoku" on the Amazing and unusual houses of Hiroshima.

Riho also appeared on the tv show of Sanma Akashiya to talk about Ai Takahashi and her husband Koji Abe.  She said that when she makes dinner plans with Takahashi, Takahashi always brings her husband with her.  Also, when they visit each other's houses, when Abe leaves the table, Takahashi will talk to Riho about him, and when Takahashi leaves the table, Abe will talk to Riho about her.  Riho didn't want to say more in order not to sound insensitive, but Sanma agreed that the couple's behavior is annoying.

Riho has of course also released her first song, and I will be writing about that in another post.

Riho will star in one episode of the TV Tokyo drama Anonymous ("Anonimasu")

The episode will be broadcast on Monday, February 22nd, at 10:00 pm JST.

Some information about the tv series:
This project was selected out of more than 300 applications, and is an original work by producer Koichi Hamatani who has produced a series of challenging projects, such as "The Supporting Actors" (バイプレイヤーズ).  The lead actor is Shingo Katori, who last appeared in a tv drama, 5 years ago.
Japan is an anonymous country with a remarkably high percentage of anonymity on the internet compared to other countries (70%).  There is no end to internet slander and flame wars, and "murder by keyboard" or "finger murder" has become a social problem.  The story is about the "Finger Murder Task Force", a newly established unit of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, which deals with such crimes.  The main character, Banjo Wataru, played by Katori Shingo is a lone wolf who was removed from the Investigation Division, after a certain incident, but with the other members of the task force, who all have strong personalities, they solve "finger murder" cases, and find the anonymous criminals.  This is a mystery that depicts the deep-rooted social problems and human drama of modern Japan.

Episode 5 Synopsis
"The Finger Murder Task Force" receives a request from Sawatii (Atsushi Hashimoto), a popular video streamer, who says that the number of slanderous comments on SNS, increased about a month ago, to the point where he received death threats.  The threats seem to come from Shuichi Hoshino (Riku Hagiwara), who takes a hit both in the real world and the online world.  However, Shiori Yamana (Riho Sayashi), a librarian who knows Hoshino, claims he is a good person.  In the meantime, Sawatii seems to be hiding something... While the task force is trying to get a confession from Hoshino, he makes the worst possible choice.

Riho Sayashi comments
I am honored to have been included as a guest star in this work, which made me think from various perspectives about the issues regarding SNS that are being discussed lately.  My discussions with Katori, the cast, the director and staff on how to portray the character effectively were a great learning experience.  I hope you will watch this work, and please pay close attention to the interaction between Hoshino and Shiori.
